WHO WE ARE
Choosing a tattooist is a difficult and important decision. For many, it's not solely about the artist's skillset. We believe in the transparency of working only with clients that we're the right fit for and encourage all our prospective clients to consider these main points before choosing:
SKILLSET: SPECIALTY STUDIOS
Be sure the artist's portfolio reflects the type of work you're looking for. Each tattoo style requires specific machinery, needles & other equipment. A specialty shop will have exactly what they need and have extensive experience on how to implement the tattoo properly. Each tattoo style requires many practice hours and is implemented differently. Fine Line work and realism is by far the most difficult tattoo style as it is very unforgiving and can lead to severe blow outs or fading if not done properly. Visit our About Us section to learn more about our specific techniques in fine line, realism and ornamental tattoo styles.
COMMUNICATION
Communication is key to the entire process. You'll want an artist that you're comfortable with so you can raise concerns, ask questions, have a clear understanding of pricing and session progress, navigate through the design process and feel comfortable doing so.
ACCOUNTABILITY
All of our sessions come with a complimentary touch up if they don't heal to your satisfaction. We take pride in our work.
QUALITY
We value the quality of our work over all other factors, including speed and cost. We work efficiently and are transparent in our process, but we refuse to sacrifice the quality of work. Of course, we understand each client is working within a budget. Instead of compromising the quality of the work, we may suggest a simpler design, payment plan, split sessions up over time, or refer you to another artist. We'll always be honest with you if we feel the design would be better pursued elsewhere or when you have the funds rather than leading you into a sale. You only get to do it once and we want you to be satisfied. EQUIPMENT: We use the highest quality machinery, needles, and ink. We are happy to share specifically what we use if interested.
PRICING
Some artists charge per piece while others charge per hour. While it may seem like a better deal for a client to pay per piece, consider these factors: the artist has no incentive to take their time with you since they will be making the same amount spending a half hour on your tattoo as they would 3 hours. It is nearly impossible to predict how long a tattoo will take due to variables like skin type, hydration, sun damage, etc. For this reason, artists with this model may end up under-charging as they realize a tattoo is taking much longer than expected. They may then rush, become irritated, or make much less than expected for the day. Artists with this business model often end up burnt out, resentful, and having to work a revolving door of clients to make the same amount of money as an artist charging hourly. Many clients are puzzled as to why their appointment seemed rushed or why the artist was irritated when asked to replace the stencil, etc. as it becomes an unpleasant experience for both artist and client. Most experienced tattooists will not give you a price per piece. We suggest finding a well rested, ethical, focused artist that charges hourly and will take their time and make you the main priority for the day. RATES: An artists rate will vary depending on their skillset and cost of equipment. We use the highest quality machinery, needles, and ink. We are happy to share more specifically with you on what we use at our studio if you're interested.
